N Uttam Kumar Reddy unwell, Congress changes plans

The presentation was planned to be held at the Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday, but with Uttam falling ill, the party postponned it.

Hyderabad: The Telangana Congress has put off its PowerPoint presentation on irrigation projects in the state to counter Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s claims.

The presentation was planned to be held at the Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday, but with TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy falling ill, the party had no option but to postpone it. The next date will be announced soon.

Meanwhile, the Congress and TD slammed TRS government, saying it was re-launching irrigation projects that were on verge of completion and claiming credit. They also accused the TRS government of jacking up project costs without any reason, raising doubts.

TPCC working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and party senior leader Mallu Ravi alleged that projects launched during Congress rule were re-launched by irrigation minister T. Harish Rao.

“TRS is looting in the name of irrigation projects. If pending projects are completed, lakhs of acres can be irrigation, Mr Vikramarka said. Mr Ravi said 95 per cent of the Palamur project was completed during YSR rule.

“After TRS came to power, work on the project ground to a halt,” he said. Elsewhere, TD senior leader Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy and BJP national executive committee member Nagam Janardhan Reddy slammed the TRS government, accusing it of taking people for a ride.

“Many projects taken up during Congress and TD rule have now been re-launched. Redesigning of projects is only to make money,” Dr Janardhan Reddy alleged.
