BJP to Establish Central Oversight Committee for Assembly Election Manifesto

HYDERABAD: TS BJP campaign committee chief Etala Rajendar on Thursday said that the party would form a committee to draft its manifesto for the Assembly elections under the close watch of the central leadership.

The manifesto would address issues facing women, farmers, students, unemployed youth, the agriculture sector, old age people, and others.

Speaking to media persons at the BJP office here, Rajendar said the party would also form a committee to examine the political situation.

Rajender said Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao's policies had burdened the state Budget. He said that when he was finance minister, he had told Rao that the Rs1 lakh loan waiver for farmers would not be possible. “Now, a number of farmers are still waiting for the loan waiver,” he said adding that the government was bankrupt.

Rajendar, a BJP national executive member, said the Congress’ six poll promises were an election stunt, and the party if elected to power, would not be able to implement them. “The Congress must tell the people on how they will implement these six promises. Even KCR is unable to fulfil his promises due to the low Budget.”

He mentioned the TS Congress’ ‘Mahalakshmi’ scheme of providing Rs2,000 to each woman. “There are around 3 crore women in the state. Where will the funds come from," Rajender asked.

BJP senior leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy said that Congress leaders knew that their promises were impossible to implement but had still gone ahead and announced them.

Official spokesperson T. Veerender Goud said the Congress must first implement the schemes that they had promised in Karnataka. He accused the party of trying to cheat the people of Telangana with false promises. “The Congress would follow the BRS policies of selling government land and enhancing liquor shops to raise money to fund such fake promises,” he said.
