Three BJP workers injured in bomb attack by CPM workers, curfew ordered for seven days

KOZHIKODE: Three BJP workers were injured in a bomb attack at Nettoor, Vilangottil, near Kuttiady, on Friday. Two of them were hacked after bombs were hurled at them while the other suffered injuries in the blast. Thekkullathil Preman (50) and Vadakke Vilangottil Mani (50) were admitted at a private specialty hospital in Kozhikode with serious injuries. Mandapamulla Parambath Dinesh (23) was the third injured.

Rural police have identified the culprits as CPM workers of the area who are still absconding, according to Rural SP Prateesh Kumar. “As per the District Collector's order, from Friday, section 144 of CrPC is in place for seven days in eight police station limits - Vadakara, Edachery, Chombala, Koyilandy, Nadapuram, Valayam, Perambra and Kuttiady. We are appealing to all parties to maintain peace. Do not compel us to use brutal force. Any procession or gathering will be removed by force," rural SP said.

However, the police refused to publish the names of the culprits. The series of attacks by the CPM workers against some BJP workers and their families started from the polling day. BJP booth agent Koonamvallichalil Udayan (28) and Cheriya Puthiya Veettil Sreejith (26) were beaten up and seven CPM workers were arrested.

On the counting day, Udayan's mother Shobha was hacked and sister Udaya was beaten up. Both of them are admitted at Government Medical College hospital. There were widespread violence against RMP workers and T.P. Chandrasekharan memorial library and memorials were destroyed.

Bus waiting shelters, banners and workshops belonging to RMP workers were destroyed. In a victory rally, the CPM workers dressed up a man like RMP Vadakara candidate and Chandrasekh-aran's widow K.K. Rema and circulated it on social media.
