Tamil Nadu: BJP hits out at Congress for unsaleable product' remark

Mr Thirunavukkarasar had said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's tactics will not work and that BJP is an unsaleable product in Tamil Nadu.

Chennai: BJP lashed out at Congress for the “unsaleable product” remark and caustically retorted that only a party that has earned the reputation for “scams and loot” is capable of talking about “sales.” The saffron party also said Congress has no locus standi to criticise BJP. Taking strong exception to TNCC chief Su Thirunavukkarasar for his remark that “BJP is an unsaleable product in Tamil Nadu”, Dr Tamilisai said, “BJP is an unsaleable product says TN congress leader........ Corrupt congress a party of scams / looters talk of sale We BJP committed to serve all.” The BJP president took to a series of tweets on her official Twitter account to lash out at the Congress chief and also DMK working president M.K. Stalin.

While participating in a public meeting organised by Congress in Coimbatore on Saturday to commemorate former PM Indira Gandhi’s birth centenary, Mr Thirunavukkarasar had said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tactics will not work and that BJP is an “unsaleable product” in Tamil Nadu. Dr Tamilisai also flayed Mr Stalin who had participated in the event, tweeting “Stalin talks (at the public meeting) as if Congress government had granted whatever his DMK had asked for, forgetting the problems he faced during the Emergency”.

In another tweet, she said “did the DMK ask then Congress government for help when innocent Tamils were massacred in Sri Lanka? Did the Congress help? Has the deceit been forgotten?” Mr Stalin who had hit out at Governor Banwarilal Purohit for conducting a meeting with government officials in Coimbatore had claimed that TN’s rights were being snatched away by the Centre and that neither the State nor the Centre is concerned about Tamil Nadu’s rights.
