Veteran Congress Leader Raghuveera Reddy Sole Choice for CWC from AP

ANANTAPUR: Newly selected Congress Working Committee member and former APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy said on Sunday that Rahul Gandhi should be the Prime Minister after the upcoming general polls so as to develop the nation in better ways.

Raghuveera Reddy is the lone selection for the reconstituted CWC from Andhra Pradesh. He is a former APCC president and a native of Neelakantapuram in Madakasira mandal in Satayasai district. He was minister in the cabinets of Vijayabhakar Reddy and YS Rajasekhar Reddy. He continued in various key party positions even as many Congress leaders shifted base to other parties after the bifurcation of AP.

Reddy had tasted defeat in two assembly polls -- from Kalyanadurgam and Penukonda as Congress candidate. He took part in Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra in AP and held interactions with all sections including farmers in Kurnool and Anantapur districts.

Meanwhile, he had also concentrated his attention on the construction of a group of temples at his native place Neelakantapuram in the past four years. During the recent Karnataka polls, he campaigned for the Congress candidates in the border areas of Tumkur, Chitradurg etc. He also acted as incharge of the party’s assembly poll campaign in Bengaluru city.

Raghuveera Reddy told DC on Sunday that he would obey the high command’s will and serve as a CWC member. “Our intention is to save the country by electing Rahul Gandhi as the Prime Minister and bring back honest and sincere development of the country in all ways,” he stated.

Congress leaders from AP, Telangana, Karnataka etc congratulated Raghuveera Reddy for his nomination as a CWC member.
