Salary delay: APGEA lodges complaint against AP government with Governor

VIJAYAWADA: In a first of its kind act, leaders of the AP government employees association met Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan, at Raj Bhavan here on Thursday, and complained against the state government’s failure to clear the dues of the employees before Sankranti.

Association president Suryanarayana said the government failed to pay the salaries on the first day of every month. This apart, it has been withdrawing money from GPF accounts of 90000 employees without their consent, he said.

Suryanarayana and APGEA general secretary Askar Rao said the employees have foregone many benefits in 11th PRC. “The employees had hoped that the state government would do justice to the employees, but it didn’t. The monthly salary is being paid late. The employees are unable to withdraw their GPF and APGLI. Four DAs are pending after the PRC was announced and so were the arrears of Rs 10,000 to Rs 12,000 crore. “The government is reluctant to pay the same,” the leaders alleged.

The two leaders said the meetings with government officials, finance officials and ministers were not fruitful. The employees would protest in a big way from April. Under the financial code 72, the state government should disburse salaries to employees, pensioners and others on priority basis, they stressed.
