Youth leaders no draw at SNDP Yogam meet

Leaders of SNDP Yogam youth movement told DC that only senior leaders have been asked to attend the leadership camp.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Youth leaders were absent at the SNDP Yogam's three-day leadership camp at Kanyakumari. Ever since SNDP Yogam floated Bharat Dharma Jana Sena, the SNDP Yogam youth movement has been critical of its general secretary Vellapally Natesan. Leaders of SNDP Yogam youth movement told DC that only senior leaders have been asked to attend the leadership camp.

Ever since SNDP Yogam floated its political front, not everyone has been happy with the decision, especially a section of the youth leaders. “Vellapally fears that we would confront him, and so we have been sidelined from attending the leadership camp. Not that we have the courage to confront him as we would be thrown out for questioning the policies of the Yogam,” said a youth movement leader.

However, BDJS state president Tushar Vellapally denied this and told DC that only youth leaders belonging to the central committee were invited to the leadership camp. “There are more than 600 Yogam leaders who are attending the conclave ranging from union presidents, secretaries, vice presidents and board members. We can’t afford to invite State committee leaders of SNDP Yogam youth movement too as primarily the feeder organisations of Yogam need not be invited,” he said.

He added that the main agenda of the second day of the meeting has been to strengthen the activities of the Yogam, but Yogam and BDJS would stay as two entities. The development activities of the Yogam and micro finance scheme would be reaching more beneficiaries in future so as to make them self-sufficient. But Yogam leadership has decided to be careful in its future activities.
