Ahead of trust vote, BJP netas go into a huddle

The majority of senior BJP leaders did not respond to the calls made by mediamen on Friday and also shied away from the media glare.

Bengaluru: With just 24 hours left for them to devise a strategy to win the confidence vote in the Assembly on Saturday, senior BJP leaders were huddled at a hotel in the city since Thursday evening.

Sources in the party said senior leaders including Chief Minister, B.S. Yeddyurappa, Union ministers, Prakash Javadekar, Ananth Kumar and D.V. Sadananda Gowda and party national general secretary, P. Muralidhar Rao, who used to hold meeting in the party office earlier, shifted to the private hotel. The leaders were in constant touch with party national president, Amit Shah who reportedly obtained the feedback and gave instructions to them. Sources said the leaders kept their staff and personal assistants away from the meeting room.

When the media met Mr Sadananda Gowda, the latter avoided taking any probing questions saying the party leaders would devise a winning strategy.

Surprisingly, the majority of senior BJP leaders did not respond to the calls made by mediamen on Friday and also shied away from the media glare.
