Bengaluru: AICC general secretary, Digvijay Singh seems to have upset quite a few women leaders by not inviting them to the crucial senior leaders meeting held Monday night to discuss the Congress strategy for the 2018 polls.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, a woman leader remarked, "This is what pains me, women are considered second rate leaders in this party. We talk about 33 per cent reservation for women in Parliament, we are led by a woman, and yet, our leaders do not consider any woman worthy of attending the meeting."

This is not the first time it is happening, she said, emphasising that after he was placed in charge of the state Congress, Mr Singh has convened many a meeting without inviting women. "There are seniors like former opposition leader in the Council, Motamma, former minister Rani Satish and former governor Margaret Alva," the source observed.
