TD says YSRC plans to delete names of opposition party voters

TIRUPATI: The Telugu Desam has accused the YSRC government of attempting to delete names of voters belonging to opposition parties using artificial intelligence (AI) with assistance from IPAC, a poll advisory body.

Addressing a press conference at Kondepi in Prakasam district on Monday, TD spokespersons Anam Venkata Ramana Reddy and Neelayapalem Vijay Kumar alleged that data collected by village / ward volunteers is being exploited by ruling YSRC party for political gain.

The spokesmen pointed out that the YSRC government has awarded the data contract to a consortium with limited experience without any tender process. No guidelines or cyber protocols have been established for managing the data collected from people of AP. Even security credentials of the Field Operations Agency consortium have not been properly evaluated, they pointed out.

The spokespersons said this raises doubts about safeguarding personal information of people.

They described Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy as a hypocrite, who, while in opposition, had accused then TD chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of collecting Aadhaar numbers, already in public domain, for political gain.

“Jagan Mohan Reddy had then falsely alleged that phone numbers were being collected, which would put women’s safety and security at risk. Now, heading the YSRC government, he has started a comprehensive profiling of families containing personal details for political gain,” the TD spokespersons alleged.
