TMC MLA Abdur Razzak gets show cause notice from party
Berhampore: A Trinamul Congress MLA from Murshidabad in West Bengal, Abdur Razzak, has been served show-cause notice by his party for forming a Panchayat Samiti board in his constituency with the opposition's help.
Mr Razzak, who is the TMC legislator of Jalangi, however accused his district party leadership of running a dictatorship. In the recently concluded Panchayat Election, the ruling party won 15 seats among 30 at Jalangi Panchayat Samiti.
On the other hand, Congress and CPI(M) won 6 seats each, BJP bagged 2 and the remaining one went to the independent in the opposition. The TMC later fielded it's candidate Rakibul Islam for the Panchayat Samiti chairman's post.
An aide of Murshidabad district TMC president Sayoni Sinha Roy, Rakibul is the district party youth president and is known for his rivalry with Mr Razzak.
On September 14 when the election for the posts of the Panchayat Samiti chairman and vice chairman was underway, Mr Razzak and his four aides voted for the opposition candidates helping them to win. They also formed five permanent committees in the village body with the opposition's help.
Ms Roy said, "Mr Razzak and four other TMC Panchayat Samiti members, voted for the opposition-alliance of CPI(M), Congress, BJP and independents. So we sent show-cause notices to Mr Razzak and others."
Mr Razzak however claimed, "It was a spontaneous outburst of our grassroot level workers against Ms Roy who is a corrupt. She is a dictator and backed corrupt youth leaders."
