Wave of change for Congress clearly seen in TS: Manish Tewari

Hyderabad: Congress MP Manish Tewari said that a clear wave was being seen across Telangana in favour of Congress, and the party would come to power in the month-end elections.

Addressing a press conference in Gandhi Bhavan on Tuesday, Tewari said the people had voted the BRS to power twice after formation of the state in 2014. “This time, they want to give a chance to the Congress, which accorded statehood and fulfilled the people’s six-decade long dream of Telangana state,” Tewari said.

He accused the BRS government of failing on all fronts in the last nine years. "The BRS came to power twice by making several promises but it failed to fulfill most of them. The BRS is now making new promises but the people have lost trust and they no longer believe its promises," Tewari, well-known advocate and former Union minister, said.

He said that it had been proved several times that the BRS was the 'B-team of the BJP' and the AIMIM was the 'B-plus team of BJP.' "The BRS supported the BJP-led government on all issues in Parliament. When Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced demonetisation, there were protests across the nation but the BRS came to the support of BJP. Even in the case of controversial farm laws, the BRS supported the BJP," he said.

Stating that Telangana was a 'revenue surplus state' when Congress-ledUPA government accorded statehood in 2014, Tewari said that the BRS government had pushed the state into debt trap with its financial mismanagement and huge corruption.

"The CM himself openly said that he had the list of BRS MLAs who were extorting money from beneficiaries to extend Dalit Bandhu, 2BHK housing scheme and other welfare schemes. It clearly shows how corrupt this government is," he said.
