TS BJP adds 125 more to its state executive, takes total to more than 400

HYDERABAD: If numbers are anything to go by, the Telangana state BJP is getting serious about facing Assembly elections in the state with the party adding 125 members to its state executive, which already has around 250 members taking the total to four hundred and odd.

On Tuesday, state party president Bandi Sanjay Kumar announced that the 125 new names were being added to the existing state executive. Though the number of members to be added to the existing state executive was expected to be lesser, the final number grew as inputs on inclusion of party leaders from various districts in the committee were taken from all senior leaders. The idea was to ensure that no senior leader felt left out in the exercise and since they operate at the ground level in each district, the party decided that their inputs would be valuable in forming the committee, a senior BJP leader said.

With this, the leader said, the state executive committee has members who have been recommended by current party MLAs, MPs, former MPs, and other senior party leaders. “This is hopefully a sign that our leaders are slowly getting together,” the party leader said.

In addition to all the office bearers at the state, and district levels, and the party’s spokespersons, the state executive will also have as special invitees for the group’s meetings all former ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, ZP chiefs, mayors, and retired IAS, IPS officers in the party, the BJP state general secretary G. Premender Reddy said.

“Very soon, the party will also be appointing members to its various cells. The plan is to have a widespread representation from all sections of the society in the party’s discussions and decision making process,” Premender Reddy said.

Tuesday’s announcement saw the Hyderabad district’s three zones as divided by the BJP – Bhagyanagar Malakpet, Mahankali Secunderabad, and Hyderabad Central – add 14 members from the three zones to the state executive committee.
