Congress gives a duck to AAP government on first anniversary

Congress on Friday gave \"zero\" marks to AAP, saying the Kejriwal dispensation only indulged in politics.

New Delhi: On the eve of first anniversary of AAP government in Delhi, Congress on Friday gave "zero" marks to it, saying the Kejriwal dispensation only indulged in politics rather than development and governance.

"I will give zero mark to Kejriwal government because I cannot give it minus mark," Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken said, adding the first year of AAP government was marked by its "conflict" with the central government and other agencies and "passing" blame for its "failures" to others.

"AAP government followed a course of conflict with the Centre and other agencies to divert focus from their governance and lack of delivery on their promises, shrugging off its responsibility while passing the blame to others," he said, giving a power-point presentation on the Arvind Kejriwal-led dispensation.

Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) will observe the anniversary of Kejriwal government as "Chhalawa Diwas" (illusion day) and take out a march from Rajghat on Sunday.

Maken accused AAP of "compromising" with its principles after coming to power and committing a "fraud" by coming out with the "weakest ever" institution of Lokpal.

"The Kejriwal government not only committed fraud by coming out with the weakest ever Lokpal, it also gave a 400 per cent hike to party MLAs transforming them from Aam Aadmi to Khas (VIP) Aadmi," he said.

The government also "failed" in its promise of giving a corruption-free governance as its own legislators and ministers faced allegations of corruption, Maken said.

"Delhi Congress was at the forefront of exposing various scams of the government including onion and sugar scams as well as protesting against party leaders and ministers who faced a range of allegations including land grabbing, bribery and possessing fake degrees," he said.

The much-talked about experiment of odd-even car rationing scheme to control pollution in the city which government included in one of its achievements was successful because people on their own participated in it, he claimed.

On the development front too, the Kejriwal government "failed completely" as no new projects have been taken up by it, he said, adding the credit of many infrastructure projects started by the erstwhile Sheila Dikshit government were claimed by it.

A "report card", titled "Kejriwal Ek Saal, Delhi Behaal," was released by Maken, party incharge of Delhi affairs P C Chako and other leaders.

The party also came out with a series of five cartoons on AAP government's "failures", besides releasing a song parodied on Mahatma Gandhi's favourite Bhajan "Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram..." focusing on Kejriwal.
