Amit Shah to address party cadre in Delhi today

Mr Lehar Singh said the mandate was against the Congress, and therefore the JD (S) should not have joined hands with Congress.

Bengaluru: BJP president Amit Shah will address leaders of the state unit, legislators and party cadre in New Delhi on Sunday in an effort to galvanize them ahead of forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.

A senior leader of the party told Deccan Chronicle that Mr Shah would assign election-related responsibilities to party leaders for the next two months during tomorrow’s meeting. On the eve of this crucial meeting with Mr Shah, state unit president B.S. Yeddyurappa chaired a meeting with general secretaries and top party leaders in Delhi on Saturday.

The leader said soon after Mr Shah’s meeting with state unit leaders and cadre, where discussions would focus on the on-going tussle between coalition partners, Mr Yeddyurappa would chair a meeting of the core committee.

Meanwhile, Mr Lehar Singh Siroya, MLC, said his party had no intentions of rocking the coalition government as it would impact the party’s prospects in forthcoming General Elections. Mr Singh, in Delhi to participate in the national council meeting, told this newspaper the media should not accept the Congress’s charge that his party would bring down the government. “I have heard that all our legislators were asked to come to Delhi so that JD (S) or Congress should not poach them. Keeping our MLAs in Delhi, will our party bring down the coalition government in Karnataka. No party will do this. It will send a wrong message to the people," he added

Mr Singh said the mandate was against the Congress, and therefore the JD (S) should not have joined hands with Congress. “Naturally, the JD (S) can form a coalition government with the BJP. You see every day, Congress leaders are making statements against JD (S). And people of the state are feeling the heat,” he said.
