BJP criticises YSRC, TD over Polavaram delay

TIRUPATI: BJP state general-secretary S. Vishnuvardhan Reddy on Friday criticised YSRC and Telugu Desam governments for their delay in completing construction of the Polavaram project.

Vishnuvardhan Reddy asked YSRC government to hand over construction of Polavaram to the centre if it is unable to cope with the task effectively. He asserted that the BJP will complete the project.

Speaking to reporters after visiting Tirumala Temple on Friday, the BJP leader maintained that the central government has not declined to reimburse the expenses incurred on Polavaram. He blamed TD and YSRC for falsely accusing the centre of freezing funds for Polavaram project to gain political advantage.

He maintained that the TD government, led by N. Chandrababu Naidu for 14 years, had failed in completing the project. People hoped the YSRC government will complete the project. But Jagan Mohan Reddy too has failed

Vishnuvardhan Reddy criticised the government for not responding to the recent attacks on priests in a temple in Bhimavaram, as YSRC leaders had been involved in it.

He asked the state government to make the jobs of 2.5 lakh village and ward volunteers permanent, as this will enhance their sense of responsibility towards the public.

The BJP leader accused YSRC and TD of playing mind games. “When Somu Veerraju (former state BJP president) spoke, they claimed that he was supporting YSRC. When Purandeswari (current BJP chief) is now speaking, they are alleging that she is supporting TD,” he underlined.
