BS Yeddyurappa making self irrelevant to BJP, says Top central leaders

Top leaders said Mr Yeddyurappa is acting out of desperation because he knows this is the last opportunity for him to take over as CM

Bengaluru: The audiotape in which state BJP chief B.S. Yeddyurappa, in a purported conversation with the son of a JD(S) MLA, is offering bribe to his father to destabilise the coalition government has reportedly come as a huge embarrassment to the party.

Sources close to top central leaders of BJP told this newspaper PM Modi and BJP president Amit Shah are reportedly upset with Mr Yeddyurappa for his repeated efforts to poach MLAs of coalition parties to topple the government through ‘Operation Kamala’ and had advised him against indulging in it.

“Mr Yeddyurappa is acting out of desperation because he knows this is the last opportunity for him to take over as Chief Minister. His actions are not supported either by the leadership or the party. He seeks advice only from his son Vijayendra, BJP MLA Aravind Limbavalli and MP Shobha Karandlaje. He is not open to anyone else's advice. In fact, his actions have literally isolated him from the party,” said a party insider, adding that Mr Yeddyurappa is making himself “irrelevant” to the BJP by embarrassing these leaders.
