BJP challenges SIT probe into poachgate

Hyderabad: The general secretary of the state BJP filed a writ petition, challenging the November 8 order of Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy that directed the police to go ahead with the probe into the alleged poaching of TRS MLAs by the BJP at a Moinabad farmhouse.

The petitioner, Gujjala Premendar Reddy, sought an extension to the interim order dated October 29 that had previously deferred the investigation on a plea seeking a CBI inquiry.

The petitioner contended that the same judge had heard both petitions and hence, should have continued the interim order for the maintainability of the case.

The petition contended that the judge ought to have appreciated that the issues not only have national ramifications but also relate to justice.

Further, the BJP leader claimed that the entire episode of alleged poaching was a well-knitted conspiracy by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, alleging that the incident was live telecast on TV channels even before a probe could begin. The judge should have considered the same, he said.

He said that the constitution of an SIT headed by the Hyderabad police commissioner showed that the state government and the machinery were working in tandem.
