KT Rama Rao Criticizes Congress \'Minority Declaration\' for Fostering Discord
Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Friday declared that the Congress had unveiled a dangerous game through its ‘Minority Declaration’ which would create tensions between minorities and the Backward Classes communities. Calling it a “wrong” move, Rama Rao described it as a “conspiracy” that could set the two sections of society against one another.
Addressing a press conference, accompanied by home minister Md Mahmood Ali, and BRS leaders, Rama Rao said that the Congress plans would “destroy the distinction between BCs and minorities laid down in the Constitution, which recognises Muslims, Christians and Sikhs as religious minorities.”
“They (Congress) have no clue and are unclear about what to say. Why did they include religious minorities in a caste census that they promised to take up in six months if they came to power, if not for creating unrest, which is undesirable for society? The Congress move will definitely hurt both sections. This is a very serious issue.”
The Congress, he said, was trying to fool the people not just in Telangana, but everywhere else with its declarations.
He demanded that the Congress immediately withdraw the ‘Minority Declaration’ and cautioned the people that if voted to power, Congress will shut down the minority welfare department and the minority welfare corporation. He said it was clear that the Congress’ manifesto was as per the BJP’s ideology which spoke about Pasmanda Muslims, belonging to the weaker sections. It is evident that the Congress declaration was written in the BJP office, he alleged.
The IT minister also declared that there was no question of the BJP’s T. Raja Singh winning from Goshamahal, TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy from Kodangal and BJP leader Etala Rajender from Huzurabad.
“Irrespective of who comes, Modi or anyone, we will ensure that the BJP will not win even a single seat in the state,” he said.
On Revanth Reddy taking on Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao at Kamareddy, Rama Rao said, “He is contesting from there only to later claim that he lost to KCR and not to some small leader.”
Earlier, welcoming Congress leader S. Jagadeeshwar, and several Congress workers from Musheerabad, Rama Rao said that Opposition parties were pressing into service in Telangana “hordes of leaders with the sole aim of creating divisions among people, uncertainty in the minds of people and to ‘destroy KCR’, who had brought stability, development, welfare and progress to the state.”
He said that under Chandrashekar Rao’s leadership, the state had progressed across diverse fronts.
“The state now has irrigation, drinking water, power supply and Hyderabad has better roads while bridges are being improved continuously. There are no problems in Hyderabad, there is no curfew, industries are running without interruptions and there are enough employment opportunities. Moreover, there are no Hindu-Muslim or Andhra-Telangana fights anymore,” he said.
