Amit Shah a laughing stock for his \'blatant lies\': KTR

Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao has said Union home minister Amit Shah’s speech in Adilabad on Tuesday was full of “blatant lies” and added that the BJP leader “has become a laughing stock” in Telangana for speaking about dynasty when his son, Jay Shah who never played cricket, was made secretary for Board of Control for Cricket in India.

“It would be good if Amit Shah tells the world where Jay Shah played cricket. He should stop talking about parivaar vaad with his son holding a position he is not qualified for in any manner,” Rama Rao said.

In the context of Shah’s comments on the AIMIM “controlling the steering of the BRS government,” Rama Rao said “Our steering is firmly in our hands but the BJP’s is in Adani’s hands. The BJP is more interested in using religion for political gains.”

Shah, he alleged, had lied that Telangana tops the country in the number of farmer suicides. “On the one hand, the BJP copied the Rythu Bandhu and other model schemes from Telangana and now claims Telangana’s farmers are committing suicide. It is unfortunate to see a Union Minister like Amit Shah boldly propagating falsehoods,” he added.

Rama Rao said that Shah should have instead spoken about how the BJP’s so-called ‘double engine sarkar’ in other states were performing instead of merely saying this is what Telangana needs. “If he has any courage, he should show any BJP-ruled state that has done better than Telangana in the last ten years,” Rama Rao said.

Meanwhile, finance minister T. Harish Rao said he wondered if there was a “curse on Shah that would result in his head exploding in a thousand pieces if he ever speaks the truth.” Harish Rao said Shah lied on every issue he spoke about including on the tribal university, Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal (KWDT) and completely ignored state government programmes for tribal welfare.

In a statement, Harish Rao said the state provided 335.04 acres for the university back in 2017 but the Modi government sat on taking a final decision. Similarly, on KWDT, it was the Centre that delayed setting terms of reference despite Telangana repeatedly demanding that the Modi government do so.

“The KCR government,” Harish Rao said, “gave Podu pattas to tribals for 4 lakh acres, increased reservations for tribals from 6 to 10 per cent, and upgraded thandas into gram panchayats. None of these are visible to Shah, and all he peddled were lies.”
