TD MP seeks centre's intervention in Naidu's arrest

TD MP Galla Jayadev demanded that Naidu be released immediately, upholding and safeguarding the rights and democratic values of Bharat

Vijayawada: Telugu Desam MP Galla Jayadev has sought centre’s intervention following the APCID arresting TD supremo and former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday.

In a letter addressed to President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and union home minister Amit Shah, the TD parliamentary party leader in Lok Sabha described the arrest of Naidu as mysterious, inexplicable and illegal. He underlined that the arrest has been on flimsy grounds under various sections of IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

The MP asked how a person, whose name is not in the FIR, could be arrested. He maintained that the unlawful, undemocratic and illegal arrest of such an esteemed leader raises concerns about the fairness and legality of our legal system.

He demanded that Naidu be released immediately, upholding and safeguarding the rights and democratic values of Bharat.
