Harish Rao hits back to Digvijay for calling TRS govt 'family-ruled'

Hasn't family rule existed from Nehru to Rahul Gandhi, in the Congress?, asks Rao.

Hyderabad: Irrigation minister T. Harish Rao on Saturday slammed AICC general secretary in-charge of AP and Telangana, Digvijay Singh for calling the TRS government, “family-ruled.”

“Hasn’t family rule existed from Nehru to Rahul Gandhi, in the Congress? His (Digvijay Singh’s) brother and son are MLAs. Is that not family rule? Promoters of family rule have no business to talk about others,” Mr Rao said.

Mr Rao added that he was elected by the people and that he had not occupied his position through the “back door”. “Even as he serves under the Congress family’s rule, it’s amazing that Digvijay Singh speaks about family rule in other parties. He has no moral right to talk about defections either,” Mr Rao said.

Mr Singh’s comments about defections from the TRS to Congress, he asked why he was silent when Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy took TRS MLAs into the Congress.
“TRS MLAs were admitted into the Congress in the presence of Digvijay Singh,” he said.

The minister also slammed Mr Singh’s comments about money being wasted on TS welfare measures. “We had to redesign our projects due to many follies of the Congress. Singh is just indulging in loose talk,” he said.
