Complete Amaravati ORR in two years: CM Chandrababu Naidu

Naidu instructed the officials to take up land pooling and other necessary works.

Vijayawada: The state government has planned to complete the Outer Ring Road (ORR) project, for the capital city of Amaravati and expansion of Machilipatnam-Vijayawada national highway in the next two years.

According to officials, the chief minister instructed the concerned departments to expedite works for completion of these two projects. The state government wants to request the Centre to establish its regional office in Vijayawada as it would help in speeding up the projects.

According to plans, the Centre has accepted the ORR project for Amaravati which is estimated to cost Rs 20,000 crore. The Centre would spend the funds and state government should provide land for this project.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu instructed the officials to take up land pooling and other necessary works, while leaving for Switzerland. He will return after a week.

Now, the state government is keen to complete one bridge on river Krishna, as part of the ORR project which would be one of the main connectivity to the capital city from the Krishna district side.

The tender procedure is underway for a six-lane express highway and ROB for the capital connectivity from the East side. On the other hand, the Machilipatnam-Vijay-awada highway expansion has already stopped midway after allotment of works to the contractor, as he expressed inability to complete the project.

The state has got permission from the Centre to complete the project under EPC system. Moreover, the HPCL is ready to establish oil refinery and port works are also on cards. In this backdrop, the CM ordered the officials to prepare an action plan to complete the works in the next two years.
