Chennai: The BJP on Sunday appealed to the RK Nagar voters to give a chance to the party to ensure Prime Minister Narendra Modi's good schemes and corruption free governance, to Tamil Nadu. The saffron party also assured to take steps for a desalination plant in the constituency if its candidate Gangai Amaran was elected.
Addressing at the constituency, BJP state president Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan said following reports quoting the income-tax department as saying about Rs 100 crore has been distributed to voters in the R.K. Nagar constituency by the AIADMK Sasikala faction, the Election Commission could cancel the by-poll if it construed that it could not hold a free and fair election in constituency.
“In the wake of IT raids on the residences of state health minister and amid charges of rampant money distribution by the AIADMK Amma group, the EC can cancel the by-poll,” she said.
