Good for politicians' health to remain out of power for some days: Priyanka

Bhopal: AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday said that it is good for the health of politicians to remain out of power for some days.

Addressing a public meeting in Sanwer in Indore district in Madhya Pradesh, Ms Vadra said that the local BJP MLA and state irrigation minister Tulsi Silawat was health minister in the previous Kamal Nath government.

Mr Silawat was away in Bengaluru to plot the fall of the Kamal Nath government in March 2020 when the state was under the grip of Covid-19 pandemic.

Mr Silawat along with 21 other Congress MLAs had quit Congress leading to the collapse of Kamal Nath government in March 2020.

They later joined BJP.

“It is good for Congress that a leader like Mr Silawat quit the party. He should be defeated in the November 17 assembly elections”, she said.

“It is good for the health of politicians to remain out of power for some days”, she quipped.

She pledged financial assistance of Rs 1,500 per month to women if Congress returned to power in Madhya Pradesh in the upcoming assembly elections.

She also reiterated her party’s pledge to provide LPG cylinder at Rs 500 and waive farm loans.

She said that Congress, if formed government in the state, would make school and college education free and provide financial assistance to students varying from Rs 500 to Rs 1,500.
