The meeting adopted a resolution to post one lakh postcards to Prime Minister Narendra Modi from AP seeking SCS in one month.

Amaravati: Navyandhra Vidyarthi Joint Action Committee (NVJAC) is planning to launch a series of protests/agitations seeking Special Category Status to the state from June 14. NVJAC held a meeting at Guntur on Tuesday and wanted Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to release a White Paper about the aid/funds sanctioned to the state by the BJP-led union government.

The meeting adopted a resolution to post one lakh postcards to Prime Minister Narendra Modi from AP seeking SCS in one month, from June 15 to August 15, distribute 1 lakh pamphlets, collect alms on June 14, human chain protests on July 2 and later intensify the agitation by starting indefinite fast.

Addressing the meet, former MLC K.S. Lakshmana Rao said the public in the state will defeat the TD, just as they did with the Congress in 2014 elections, if the TD fails to get SCS as promised during the hustings.

He wanted the government to send a team, comprising leaders of all political parties, to New Delhi to pressurise the BJP-led Union government with regard to SCS.
