Congress workers gear up for \'Haath se Haath Jodo\' Abhiyan

Hyderabad: The Congress will be strengthening its ranks from the grass-root level during the two-month long ‘Haath se Haath Jodo’ Abhiyan that begins on Republic Day.

Capitalising on the ‘Bharat Jodo’ spirit that is fast catching up, party workers will be reaching out to the masses from the block to division levels.

Towards making it a success, the three AICC general secretaries, N.S. Bose Raju, Nadeem Javed and Rohit Chaudhary, will be overseeing the campaign in around 40 Assembly constituencies each. They will be assisted by five of PCC working presidents, who will monitor the progress in about four to five Parliamentary constituencies each. Each vice-president will be assigned a district while general secretaries will be given the responsibility in two Assembly constituencies each.

“All this will be finalised during the two-day visit of AICC in-charge for Telangana, Manikrao Thakare on January 11 and 12,” Khairatabad DCC president C. Rohin Reddy told Deccan Chronicle, here on Sunday.

Rohin Reddy, who chaired the preparatory meeting of ‘Haath se Haath Jodo’ at Gandhi Bhavan earlier in the day, said that the commencement of the campaign will be immediately after the unfurling of the tricolor on January 26.

“The booth committees will be activated from January 17 and the general secretaries, posted as observers, will ensure that the campaign is a success,” he added.

As part of the padayatras in the two-month period, the leaders will be visiting every household and listen to their grievances and identify the important issues. These will be brought to the notice of authorities.
