Hubballi: Concerned that the Hunsur incident when Mysore MP Pratap Simha rammed his official vehicle into a police barricade could set off a communal incident, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah charged Mr Simha with trying to create a law and order incident, under instructions from the party’s national president Amit Shah.
Speaking in Haveri on Tuesday, he warned that the State government will initiate action against anyone who vitiates peace in the society, and said the violent clashes by the BJP at Hanuma Jayanti celebrations were "intentional".
Questioning how an MP could ram his vehicle into a barricade, he also expressed his displeasure against the personal attack on him by the Union minister Ananth Kumar Hegde, saying that the BJP leader's abusive language " reveals his personality and made him ineligible for ministership."
Promising to do everything to ensure there would be no repeat of the Simha episode, he said: “We too celebrate Hanuma Jayanti and Ram Navami every year, " adding "there is also a ‘Ram’ in my name. The Gods are not on lease to the BJP alone. Its not just the BJP which has the right over them. They are trying to stoke up the fire in the name of Jayanti programme."
Answering a question on the funding of the Congress rallies, he said the real question was who was funding the opposition rallies.
"B S Yeddyurappa and Shobha Karandlaje should transform themselves instead of holding a Parivarthana (Change) rally," Siddaramaiah said.
