VDP Associates predicts 16 Lok Sabha seats for TRS

It said a high percentage of respondents in TS voted for Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao as the next Prime Minister.

Hyderabad: VDP Associates, an election watch body whose exit polls for the Telangana Assembly elections were nearly accurate, has stated the TRS would win 16 out of 17 Lok Sabha seats in the state if the polls were held now.

It said a high percentage of respondents in TS voted for Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao as the next Prime Minister. He was followed by Congress president Rahul Gandhi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi stood third, the agency said.

VDP Associates stated that it conducted a nationwide survey in states with 10 or more Lok Sabha seats (except Delhi) with a sample of more than 15,000 voters. The ‘national tracker poll’ projects winning parties if the elections were held now.

The survey said the TRS would win 16 and the MIM one. It said 35 pre cent of respondents chose Mr Rao as Prime Minister, 28 per cent Mr Gandhi and 27 per cent Mr Modi.

It said that in Andhra Pradesh, 17 per cent of respondents chose Mr Modi for Prime Minister, 5 per cent Mr Gandhi and 30 per cent AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

In the rest of India, the agency said Mr Modi was still most popular choice for Prime Minister but there was a sharp decline in his popularity compared to previous polls. Mr Gandhi was chosen by 24 per cent voters across India.

According to VDP Associates’ national tracker poll, the All India seat share forecast if the Lok Sabha elections are held now is BJP: 201 (-81), Congress: 110 (+66), NDA: 225, UPA: 167 and others: 150.
