Furnish info on raids on AIADMK: MK Stalin

He wanted to know the veracity of the information being shared in the social media on the reported seizure of a huge stash of cash in Erode.

Chennai: DMK treasurer and Leader of Opposition, MK Stalin, asked why the ruling AIADMK men are spared by the Income Tax Department, which has launched a nation-wide operation to flush out unaccounted cash.

In a statement on Sunday, he said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been stating that the flushing out of unaccounted cash is part of the anti-corruption drive but there was no transparency in the raids conducted on the AIADMK men by the union finance ministry that was part of his cabinet.

Pointing to the statements issued by the I-T department on seizure of unaccounted new and scrapped old notes, he said no such statement was issued on the raid conducted allegedly in the house of an AIADMK minister’s relative.

He noted that there was no news about the follow-up action taken on the raid conducted in the premises of Anbunathan in Karur where Rs 4.77 crore along with money counting machines was seized in run up to the assembly polls.

There was no information either on what happened to the CBI enquiry ordered by the Madras High Court in the case filed by the DMK in the seizure of three containers carrying Rs 570 crore, he said, wondering what was the follow-up action on the raids conducted in former AIADMK minister Natham R. Viswanathan and former Chennai Mayor Saidai Duraisamy as well.

He wanted to know the veracity of the information being shared in the social media on the reported seizure of a huge stash of cash in Erode.
