P.Gannavaram MLA faces embarrassment from people

KAKINADA: The P.Gannavaram MLA Kondeti Chittibabu (YSRC) is facing an embarrassing situation in the Gadapa-Gadapaku Mana Prabhutvam programme in his constituency.

The people, in particular belonging to Jana Sena and Telugu Desam, are questioning him for development works. They frequently raised roads, drainages and other infrastructure issues in their respective villages. Though the local YSRC leaders are trying to pacify their local opposition leaders, they did not heed their voices.

In some cases, the police were to intervene and pacify the matters by pushing them outside. Recently, The MLA visited Parupalli village under the Gadapa Gadapaku programme. Jana Sena leaders stopped him and demanded he disclose what works he did after he was elected as MLA. They said that they did not even try to know about the problems in the village by visiting it except on one or two occasions. They said that though they laid stones for some of the development works, The local leaders tried to pacify them, but in vain. The police officials expressed anger over them and dispersed them from the spot. Then they left for the place and gave the path clear to the MLA to continue his programme. In Munganda village also, a woman questioned the MLA about the development works. The opposition party leaders in the constituency alleged that the MLA has paid attention to selling the soil by digging up it illegally.

The MLA Chittibabu told the Deccan Chronicle that the state government had released funds for the development of the roads for National Highways and not for Panchayat Raj Roads. He said that after releasing the funds, all roads and drainage works would be taken up immediately. The development works are being taken up in a phased manner and the opposition parties are trying to create hurdles to his tours with political intentions.

Clarifying about the mining allegations, the digging up of soil has been permitted by the District Collector to some of the contractors through tenders to fill up Jagananna housing colonies for house constructions and there is no connection with the soil digging to him. He said that digging up the soil in agricultural lands is being taken up with the nod of the farmers and it is helpful to them.
