V Srinivas Prasad to start second innings with Nanjangud meet

On Wednesday, he held a preliminary meeting with his supporters at Nanjangud.

Mysuru: Three weeks after he quit the ruling Congress as well as membership of the Legislative Assembly, former minister and Dalit leader V Srinivas Prasad will take a call on his future moves in politics and make an announcement at a convention of his supporters, “Swabhimani Samavesha”, scheduled to be held in Nanjangud, next Tuesday.

On Wednesday, he held a preliminary meeting with his supporters at Nanjangud. More than 200 members, including prominent Dalit leaders, took part in the meeting.

At today’s meeting Mr Srinivas Prasad said: “I will decide which party to join, and whether I should contest the bypoll. I will reply to all statements of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, PWD minister Dr H.C. Mahadevappa and KPCC working president, Dinesh Gundu Rao, at the convention. I have bonded with people of this constituency for 40 years. If Dr Mahadevappa thinks that he can win the people of my constituency using money and power, it is an illusion.”

Training his guns on the Chief Minister, he said “Mr Siddaramaiah has to change his body language. He is no match to my personality. I did not go to Chief Minister, Mr Siddaramaiah, or home minister, Dr Parameshwar, requesting them to appoint me as minister. I was appointed as minister because of my charisma and standing as a tall politician of this state for four decades. They have insulted me by dropping me from the cabinet without even a hint. It is a question of my self-esteem. I will let the voters of my constituency know as to why I had to resign (as legislator).”
