Subramanya appointed HDK's economic advisor

His name was doing the rounds during the nominations to the Legislative Council but he missed the seat.

Bengaluru: Hours after inking an understanding over power-sharing with his coalition partner, the Congress, Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy appointed his trusted lieutenant and former IAS officer, Dr S. Subramanya as economic advisor to the CM.

Dr Subramanya who took voluntary retirement from the IAS, had served in the finance department for a very long time before taking up the crucial BBMP commissioner’s post. He also held the agriculture secretary post.

After taking voluntary retirement, Dr Subramanya has been lending advice to Mr Kumaraswamy on various issues including financial matters. His name was doing the rounds during the nominations to the Legislative Council but he missed the seat.

When B.S. Yeddyurappa was chief minister, economics professor from ISEC Dr K.V. Raju was financial advisor to him. Dr Subramanya is likely to enjoy cabinet minister rank.

Meanwhile, G. Prabhu, KAS officer has been named private secretary to the CM. Mr Prabhu was the private secretary to former housing minister, M. Krishnappa. He belongs to the same caste as Mr Kumaraswamy and is close to the Deve Gowda family.
