Adilabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Sunday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of trying to sell Singareni (Collieries) to his friends, claiming that he was not acting as the nation’s leader and that he had to change his name to ‘Adani’.
Using the Telugu words ‘mondi (stubborn)’ and ‘tondi (cheat)’ to describe the Prime Minister, Rama Rao said that Modi’s visit to Telangana was not to sanction funds for developmental works, but to sell government assets.
Rama Rao was addressing a gathering after launching a slew of projects in Kyathanpalli and Mandamarri municipalities. These included the inauguration of the KCR Urban Eco-Park on 250 acres, laying the foundation stone for a Rs 500-crore palm oil factory, issuance of land deeds under the seventh phase in the Singareni area, distribution of 560 2BHK houses, inauguration of Mission Bhagiratha and foundation stone laying of a bridge over Palavagu.
Rama Rao, hinting at Modi’s alleged bias against Telugu states, said: “He has not sanctioned any funds for Amaravati and the same is the case with Telangana.”
“The state government has developed Singareni in such a way that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has announced nearly Rs 1,000 crore as a bonus from its profits this year for Dasara and Diwali for Singareni workers. Further, he has re-enlisted dismissed workers and given dependants jobs. KCR made it a profitable company,” Rama Rao said.
Not sparing the Congress, Rama Rao appealed to the public not to trust the Congress either on its ‘six guarantees’, claiming that the Congress was known for cheating the public with false promises and that there was no guarantee of their implementation.
Rama Rao also hit back at Congress MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, asking him to personally visit Chennur to ascertain whether the state government was providing 24-hour power. He said the Congress if elected will provide three hours of power.
“Under Congress, there will be a new CM every year and there will be no schemes, only scams if the Congress comes to power in the state,” he said, terming Congress and BJP as ‘Mondi Cheyi (obstinate)’ and ‘Chevula Puvvu (falsehoods)’.
He said the state government was encouraging palm cultivation on 20 lakh acres in the state to emerge as a leader in the crop, as currently, the country was importing palm oil from Indonesia and Malaysia.
The minister promised to issue land deeds for Singareni colonies that have not been covered so far, as per GO 76, adding that the state government will also take up the Chennur Lift Irrigation Scheme at an estimated cost of Rs 1,620 crore to provide water for agriculture in the region.
MLAs Balka Suman and Durgam Chinniah, Peddapalli MP Venkatesh Netha, Diwalar Rao, ZP chairpersons Kova Laxmi and Rathod Janaradhan, MLC Dande Vittal and former MLC Laxman Rao were among those present.
