AP: Speaker flays opposition for threatening officials

VISAKHAPATNAM: Speaker Tammineni Sitaram on Friday strongly condemned opposition leaders who are allegedly threatening officials carrying out development works in his Amadalavalasa assembly constituency.

Inspecting several works that have been taken up in the Boorja area of his constituency, Sitaram accused opposition leaders of phoning and abusing officials supervising the ongoing works in his constituency.

“The opposition leaders are creating a hostile environment in the region. It is not good to abuse officials. People are watching. They will teach a fitting lesson to these leaders very soon,” the Speaker stated.

He laid the foundation stone for the Jal Jeevan Mission, under which drinking water will be provided to households through taps in Uppada Venkatapeta village at a cost of ₹51.50 lahks. At another function in the same village, he inaugurated the Rythu Bharosa Kendram (RBK) built incurring an expenditure of ₹28.5 lakh.

Interacting with villagers, Sitaram underlined that Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is implementing Jal Jeevan Mission to provide drinking water to every home in the state. He maintained that RBKs are providing farmers all services related to agriculture, from providing quality seeds to procuring paddy.

“I have been relentlessly serving the constituency for the last four years. I am participating in every programme in villages of the constituency. Of recent, I have been hearing that opposition leaders are threatening officials, which is not proper,” the Speaker told villagers.

He challenged the opposition for a debate on development that is taking place now and what had been carried out by the previous regime.
