Marri Shashidhar Reddy Writes to EC; Seeks Transfer of Officials

Hyderabad: Marri Shashidhar Reddy, chairman of the BJP’s Election Commission affairs committee, in a complaint on Tuesday alleged that ruling party leaders had secured the posting of favoured police officers in their constituencies.

Writing to the police commissioner, the Chief Electoral Officer, and the Chief Election Commissioner, he alleged that the inspectors posted in SR Nagar, Begumpet, Ramgopalpet, Mahankali, Gandhinagar and Chilkalguda in Sanathnagar constituency were handpicked by local MLA and minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav. He alleged that the inspectors had greeted the minister on October 6, three days before the elections were announced.

In the Secunderabad constituency, postings were made at the request of local MLA and Deputy Speaker T. Padma Rao. They could not be expected to discharge their duties in a fair manner, he alleged and sought their transfers to ensure transparent polling.
