APRSSS demands MSP, farm loan waiver

VIJAYAWADA: The Karmika-Karshaka Rashtra Sadassu held in Vijayawada on Sunday demanded central legislation to provide minimum support price (MSP) for farm produce, cancellation of Electricity Amendment Bill 2020 and waiving of agricultural loans.

The state-level seminar has been organised by Andhra Pradesh Rythu Sanghala Samanvaya Samiti (APRSSS). Former MP Hannan Mollah, social activist Medha Patkar and former minister Vadde Sobhanadreeswara Rao spoke.

They called on farmers and workers to defeat Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP, RSS and allies’ government in the 2024 elections. On the occasion, the Samyuktha Kisan Morcha (SKM) announced that a bigger movement will be organised in New Delhi against the central government in December.

Addressing the seminar, All India Kisan Sabha vice president Hannan Mollah said they will be organising their second phase of agitation from November 28, demanding implementation of the seven assurances given by Narendra Modi.

Addressing the gathering, Medha Patkar alleged that both ruling YSR Congress and opposition Telugu Desam are cheating farmers after taking lands from them in Amaravati but not paying compensation for the same.

Swaminathan Commission member and All India Kisan Sabha general secretary Athul Kumar Anjan spoke.

On the occasion, Hannan Mollah released a book written by former minister and APRSSS convener Vadde Sobhanadreeswara Rao on PM Modi government’s policies and politics related to the farming sector.
