AFWWA distributes woollen caps to underprivileged

The AFWWA undertook a massive woollen cap knitting campaign with an aim to distribute them to the lesser privileged members of the society

HYDERABAD: On its 62nd anniversary, the Air Force Wives Welfare Association (AFWWA) created a Guinness World Record for the largest display of knitted hats or caps when it displayed 41,541 knitted woollen caps in New Delhi during their Knittathon.

The event was attended by Union ministers Rajnath Singh and Smriti Irani. The Guinness certificate read: “The largest display of knitted hats/caps was achieved by the Air Force Wives Welfare Association in New Delhi, India on 15 October 2022.”

The campaign was aimed to help the homeless and underprivileged survive the chilly winter. B. Komala, president of AFWWA, Air Force Academy in Dundigal distributed some of the caps from the record event, to the underprivileged, along with Sanginis from the SFA.

The drive was conducted at Sai Seva Sangh, Moosapet, Missionaries of Charity, New Bhoiguda, and Seagram, Annaram. Not only will it help the underprivileged to tackle the harsh winters, but such initiatives also empower the women and show the strong commitment of IAF families to serve the local community.
