VHP slams CM for skipping Ram Navami at Bhadrachalam

HYDERABAD: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Thursday demanded an explanation from Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao as to why he did not go to Bhadrachalam on behalf of the state and present ‘Mutyala Talambralu’, and ‘Pattu Vastralu’ to Lord Sri Rama, and goddess Sita on the occasion of Sri Rama Navami festival.

After doing this in 2015 and 2016, Rao has ignored this tradition of the head of the state presenting pearls and silk clothes to the presiding deities at Bhadrachalam, the VHP said. It said though temple authorities sought Rs 2.15 crore for the celestial wedding of the deities, the government released just Rs one crore, and that too just one day before the festival.

“Rao, who attends Christmas and Ramzan celebrations, chose to ignore Lord Rama, which shows his anti-Hindu attitude,” VHP leader P Balaswamy said in a statement.
