Kerala Agricultural University students bag national awards for entrepreneurship

ICAR, NAARM, CIFT and KVASU jointly organised the event.

Thrissur: The Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) students have bagged national innovation awards for the best entrepreneur team for their business plan presentation at a sensitization workshop on entrepreneurship development for southern Indian universities. In the completion held on Friday at College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mannuthy, students of cooperation, banking and management of KAU bagged the first prize for their business plan on natural mosquito repellent from turmeric leaf.

KAU’s Kelappaji College of Agricultural Engineering won the second prize for Vacuum Fritz - a project for making healthy, nutritious and environmentally safe vacuum fried banana chips. KAU director of extension Dr S. Estellita presented the awards at the valedictory function presided over by Dr T.P. Sethumadhavan, director of entrepreneurship, Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU). Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR), National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM), Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (CIFT) and KVASU jointly organised the event.
