Melee after DMK member denied intervention

The DMK members continued to press for their demand and the melee lasted for about half an hour

Chennai: The Assembly on Wednesday witnessed noisy scenes when Speaker P. Dhanapal refused to allow DMK member J. Anbazhagan to intervene in the speech of ministers, while DMK members insisted on allowing their member to express his views.

The minister intervened during the speech of DMK whip R. Chakrapani and explained the implementation of free power supply to farmers. At this point, Anbazhagan was on his feet and sought an explanation from the minister.

The Speaker rejected the DMK member’s request. Leader of Opposition M.K. Stalin and deputy floor leader K. Duraimurugan too supported the demand of their member to speak on the subject. However, the Speaker was firm on his decision. The DMK members continued to press for their demand and the melee lasted for about half an hour.
