CM Jagan Attends New Parliament House Inauguration

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy participated in the inauguration ceremony of the new Parliament building in Delhi on Sunday along with MPs and Chief Ministers of different states.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the building to the nation, saying, “The new Parliament is a reflection of the aspirations and dreams of the 140 crore Indians. This is a temple of our democracy that gives a message of India’s resolution to the world. When India moves forward, the world moves forward.”

CM Jagan sat in the front row with Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Jagan Reddy interacted with the priests who performed holy rituals there and took photos with them. He also interacted with the finance minister and others.

The chief minister had already congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for quick completion of the new Parliament building and requested all the political parties to attend it. “A boycott of the inauguration is not in the true spirit of democracy,” he said and called upon all political parties to attend this glorious event, setting aside all political differences.

YSR Congress parliamentarian N Reddappa said that he was privileged to have witnessed the inauguration. Another MP Maddial Gurumurthy said, “This is a milestone in the history of Indian democracy, and it is a great pleasure to be a part of this historic event.” Rajya Sabha MP Vijayasai Reddy said the new building is a symbol of the faith of the people of India in democratic ideals.
