Kerala: Online railway ticket booking in mess, passengers hit

The issue has cropped up even as the IRCTC launched a new service Pay on Delivery'.

Kochi: Commuters attempting to book railway tickets through the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC)’s website are in trouble for the last month as online-booking cannot be done with credit cards of banks like the ICICI.
“I’ve been using IRCTC every week in the past one year to travel home from Kochi and net banking to make the payments. In the last two to three weeks however I find that my bank - ICICI -is not in the list and I had to keep relying on others with a national bank account to book my tickets,” said Shiya C, a native of Thiruvananthapuram and currently working at Kochi.

“It would be great if this could be looked into or if a clear statement is given as to why there is a change so we can plan accordingly," she added. When contacted, an IRCTC official at Chennai concerned with e-tickets said the website was working fine and that the problem lay with the concerned banking institution. However, he admitted that the website would not function on IOS platforms and commuters could book tickets only from Android mobile phones. The issue has cropped up even as the IRCTC launched a new service ‘Pay on Delivery’, which means you can book your tickets online and get them delivered to your doorstep.
