Anti-drug campaign extends to more areas in Kozhikode

The cleaning and painting works of the new bus stand would begin on March 12.

Kozhikode: After the successful launch of the 'war on drugs' project in and around the Palayam bus stand with the help of Compassionate Kozhikode volunteers, the team under Kasaba Janamaithri Police taking it to the new bus stand. The city police commissioner will flag off a marathon from Tali temple to the beach announcing its arrival on March 5. The Tali pond, a heritage site, would also be cleaned by the team, as a first step, to reclaim the area, that is now almost invaded by drug-pushers. "In April, we will start seeking suggestions from the public on areas to be cleaned," said Kasaba CI P. Pramod.

“The same team of Compassionate Kozhikode would be assisting in clearing the walls of the new bus stand and painting them with beautiful pictures, as in the case of Palayam bus stand. By removing all the dirt of the past and refreshing with colourful paintings, the corners, once notorious for drug dealing, would turn out to be beautiful places of gathering.” The cleaning and painting works of the new bus stand would begin on March 12. As part of the war on drugs, on all Saturdays, policewomen are patrolling the areas including bus stands and railway station.
