VIJAYAWADA: An assistant father at the Roman Catholic Mission church was found dead in suspicious circumstances on Wednesday morning. He was seen hanging from the ceiling of his room in the church premises.
According to one-town police, Velangini Raju, 33, hailing from Indupalli village of Unguturu mandal in Krishna district, was working in the church for the last four months. A suicide note purportedly written by him was recovered, which stated none was responsible for his death.
Police booked a case and an investigation was on.
Meanwhile, his family members said they suspected foul play. Alleging that he was murdered, they staged a protest at the government hospital where his body was kept for postmortem. They sought a probe into the death.
