Chennai: People’s Welfare Front convenor and MDMK general secretary Vaiko on Monday alleged that state election commission declaring the local body elections without giving due time for preparation was only to favour the ruling AIADMK.

The sudden declaration of the local body elections by the state election commission without providing time for preparation would only favour the ruling AIADMK and create difficulties for the opposition parties, Mr Vaiko told reporters after holding consultation meeting with CPI (M) state secretary G. Ramakrishnan, CPI state secretary R. Mutharasan and VCK president Thol. Thirumavalavan here at MDMK headquarters.

Pointing to the declaration of candidates for the 12 corporations in the state by AIADMK, he said it only indicates the announcements was timed at favouring the ruling party.
