Kurnool: Purusaivari fete to begin from March 4

Annual Brahmotsavams in Kapileswara Swamy temple ended on Sunday.

Kurnool: The 963rd avatarotsavam of Srivaishnava Acharya Anantalwar, Purusaivari Thototsavam will be observed in Tirumala on March 4 and 5 under the aegis of Alwar Divya Prabandha Project of the TTD. Ananthalwar is said to have stood as an example for a true ‘bhakta’ (devotee) who dedicated his life to the service of Lord Venkateswara.

He pioneered the Pushpa Kainkaryam at the temple of Lord Venkateswara and rendered service till his death at the age of 102. The avatarotsavam will be observed with religious fervour in the Alwar Tank gardens in the presence of seers of various peethams and descendants of Anantalwar during these two days.

Trisula Snanam
The annual Brahmotsavams in Sri Kapileswara Swamy temple concluded on Sunday with the celestial Trisula Snanam performed by temple priests as per the tenets of Saivagama. Trisula Snapanam was performed to the trident weapon of Lord Shiva. Before that an idol of Sri Nataraja Swamy was taken on a celestial ride on Suryaprabha Vahanam in the morning.

The archakas recited Shiva Suktam and performed special abhishekam to the Trisulam in the temple pushkarini. In the evening Dhwajavarohanam was performed between 6 pm and 7.30 pm. The Nandi flag hoisted on the temple pillar post was brought down amidst chanting of Vedic mantras marking the successful conclusion of the mega religious fete.

The Lord was taken on a celestial ride on Ravanasura Vahanam between 8 pm and 10 pm on the Sunday. The devotees were enthralled by the divine sight of the Lord on Ravanasura Vahanam. Temple Deputy executive officer Subramanyam, Superintendent Obul Reddy, temple inspectors K. Narayana, Muralikrishna, AVSO Raju, executive engineer Jagad-eeswara Reddy and others took part in the event.

TTD EO Dr D. Sambasiva Rao offered silk vastrams to Vayulingeswara Swamy of Sri Kalahasti on Sunday. As the annual Brahmotsavams are underway at this famous Lord Shiva temple in the pilgrim district of Chittoor, TTD has made the offering to the presiding deity of temple, a practice it has been following for a few years.The Siva Parvathi Kalyanam took place on Sunday. The vastrams will be offered to the deities on this occasion.Earlier, the EO was given a warm reception by the temple officials.
