Kollam: Ambulance drivers strike after Sub Inspector abuse

The incident took place near Kadappakkada when the ambulance parked along the National Highway.

KOLLAM: Ambulance drivers in the city took out protest in front of Kollam traffic police station after a Sub Inspector took into custody an ambulance that was allegedly on the way to attend an emergency call on Thursday. The incident took place near Kadappakkada when the ambulance parked along the National Highway. According to the protesters, the officer demanded documents and licence from the driver Rajeesh who was waiting for the male nurse Anoop who went to purchase medical equipment including gloves from a nearby medical store.

The SI Anoop Chandran allegedly seized the documents and demanded the driver to be present at the station ignoring his plea that he was about to attend an emergency call. Meanwhile, the police maintained that the ambulance had wrongly parked obstructing vehicular traffic along the road.
