Kannur University signs MoU with ACCA, ISDC

Abdul Khader opined that as more companies are converging to IFSR system

KOZHIKODE: The Kannur University signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the London-based Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and International Skill Development Corporation Limited (ISDC) for introducing the innovative international accounting system in B.Com, M.Com, BBA and MBA courses. Kannur is the second varsity after Calicut University to sign such an MoU with the 112-year-old global professional accounting body, which is offering the Chartered Certified Accountant qualification (ACCA or FCCA).

Kannur University Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dr T. Asokan said that with the introduction of International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) as part of the MoU, the students will be equipped with new international accounting package. “The ACCA will provide syllabus and training to the trainers of the affiliated colleges where the courses are being conducted. The university will select two teachers from each college and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants will impart training to them in two sessions as per their module,” he said.

Vice-Chancellor Dr M.K. Abdul Khader opined that as more companies are converging to IFSR system, the job opportunities for students from the university would be high. The MoU was signed by Registrar Dr Balachandran Keezhoth with ACCA International Development (Head) Muhammed Sajid Khan and ISCD Head (Strategy) Joseph Tom.
