CS asks collectors to take measures to prevent fire accidents in summer

HYDERABAD: Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari asked district collectors to take measures for the prevention of fire accidents in the summer. The task should not be left only to the fire department and all government departments and people should participate in it, she said.

Santhi Kumari was speaking at a video conference with collectors on Friday to review Haritha Haaram, Palle Pragati, Kanti Velugu, women's health programmes, SSC exams, distribution of house sites to the poor as well as prevention of fire accidents.

Referring to the two recent fire accidents in Hyderabad, she emphasised that people should be made aware of the precautionary measures to be taken immediately in case of fire accidents. The need to conduct a fire safety audit on the places where there is a possibility of fire was also highlighted.

She directed collectors to identify suitable land belonging to the irrigation department and plant saplings on a large scale during the Haritha Haaram programme.

A plan should be prepared for Bruhath Prakruthi Vanaalu in suitable forest lands. The collectors were advised to prepare the Haritha Haaram action plan by the end of April.

With about 4.94 lakh students appearing for the SSC exams to be held from April 4 to 13, the Chief Secretary directed that elaborate arrangements be made for the students. The police department should work in coordination with other departments in conducting the examinations properly.

Regarding Kanti Velugu, she said 86.5 lakh people have undergone eye examinations and reading glasses have been distributed to 14.23 lakh people. Distribution of prescription glasses to 10.73 lakh people is going on,
she said.

The women’s health programme launched on the occasion of International Women's Day is getting a good response, she said and directed the collectors to visit Kanti Velugu and woman's health camps in the district and take measures for proper implementation.

She instructed the collectors to pay special attention to the GOs 58, 59, 76, and 118 which benefit the poor. She stated that 1,039 acres of land have been identified in the state in accordance with the instructions of the Chief Minister to allot residential land to the poor under these GOs and requested to send full reports in this regard.
